Thanks for the Fave on the Beach Birthday Cake! Good luck on making yours for your Mum's 60th birthday- if you do the Oreo thing, make sure that if you use a frosting that dries, you'll need to use a knife and break the surface to get the Oreo sand to stick=)

Ahhh good point. I am thinking of using the dark chocolate ones and making it more like dirt because Mum's an avid gardener. I was racking my brain trying to think of a suitable 'garden' themed cake but when I saw the little shovel and that gorgeous sand I went "aha! a garden trowel and some seed packets and dirt!!"

Then mum can plant the seeds and use the trowel as well. It's the cake that keeps on giving XD

Great idea! Make sure to throw in a few light ones...since soil has those little white chunks of fertilizer in it(you could even remove a bit of creme from some of the Oreos, and lump them up and sprinkle it on). I think that's a great idea...and you could also get a hold of some fondant and make a couple of fake plants to stick out for height...like a couple of onions or something=D

Ohhh yeh absolutely! I was even thinking of making some fondant covered cookies for 'rocks' since she makes huge huge rock gardens. SO much possibility. Are you thinking of making any more sand cakes?

oh and you know what I bet the crushed cookies would taste amazing on an icecream cake!
